Once you have done research and decided that this is the type of work you want to do, you must learn the laws in your state, county, and city regarding the mobile food service industry. In many cases, there are very strict guidelines regarding such businesses. You may not wish to pursue this type of business once you learn all the rules and regulations for this business. Find out who your business would be regulated by, if there are licenses or fees that you must pay in order to start up, where you will be allowed to do business, and also who you will be inspected by. All of this information is important to know before you jump into this type of business.
Once you have researched the laws regarding the food concession business, the next step is to figure out where you will be selling food from and what type of food you will be selling. These are both very important aspects of your business because if either is chosen incorrectly, there will be serious problems with your business. For example if you try to serve something new and it doesn’t go over well in the community, your business may die. Similarly, if you are in the wrong location and do not receive many customers, you will not survive as a business.
The final thing to do before you can go into business is to purchase the equipment with which you will be selling your products. Take care that the equipment is in good shape, has a good price and that you are doing business with an honest seller. Another good thing to do is to make sure you research the different types of equipment to know which type would suit you better as a business owner. All of these steps are very important in order to get into this business. Step back and use your most objective judgment. This is not a decision to be made lightly. Going through all these steps will lessen the chances of your business failing.
A concession business is a great way to get started in the food service industry without the expense of opening a fixed location restaurant.
