If you are, then, here is the guideline for you......
Video Making Equipment:
You have to have a video camera, preferably a digital video camera. It can be very ordinary and do need to be a top quality one. Best is the better for quality, though. A simple mobile phone can equally be sufficient in most cases. You need to have a computer and an internet connection. A DSL or Broadband connection is quite important, as these video files can be quite large. A "telephone modem" or "dialup internet" may be too slow for uploading videos.
In your computer, relevant drivers must be installed to connect your digital video camera or mobile phone (with video facility) to the computer. For example, "Nokia PC Suite" for nokia phones. Not needless to mention about the cable connections and cables. Most of these cables are either non-specific like USB cables or specific cables which come with these gadgets. Some cameras and mobile phones have Bluetooth facility to upload to your computer's hard drive. Please read the manual of your device and computer to understand the techniques. These are usually simple.
Relevant software often comes with these gadgets which need to be installed on your computer. The software should be compatible to your operating system (most are but if not, you can download relevant software from the manufacturer's website of your gadget).
Most websites accept the video file belonging to these formats: MPEG4 (DivX, Xvid) with MP3 audio (the best), AVI, MOV, WMV, FLV, 3G and others.
If your camera makes video in a different format, you may have to convert them to the appropriate format. There are hundreds of software programmes which can do this for you. For example, Easy Media Creator 10.0 by ROXIO, or Nero 8 etc.
Topic of Your Video:
This is the single most important issue which needs to be emphasized more than anything. A better topic attracts people. Everyone needs information and if you know something unique then making a video about it is the key to be successful. You have talent which will come out when you will make a video about it. If you have some difficulties then watch some topics of your interest and prepare your mind about it. Think and take your time.
Video Making and Editing:
You may be on a picnic trip and you may have captured some nice scenic view in your mobile and that is all what you need to upload as a beginner. With time you may capture so many nice clips, that you may find it difficult to choose. I recommend that upload all of them provided they are not having any blurred images.
You may have to edit your video. Many cameras have an in-built facility to do this but you may need some software on your computer to do it for you. Roxio and Nero software are particularly easy to follow. You may choose any software which you find easy to use.
Audio dubbing is required for many video clips because of background noise of outdoor shooting may disturb the true feel of your video clip. You may need Roxio or Nero to look after this matter as well. You may have to use an audio track from your collection, for example.
Choosing File Name:
When you have finalised your video, please do not forget to give it a specific name. It is particularly recommended that a relevant name to your topic is the best choice. This is important for easy retrieval by the searching user. Most video websites require that the video file name should either have no space between individual words or a hyphen "-" between the words. This helps the converting software to work properly when video is uploaded.
Uploading your Video:
This is fairly simple. Choose your website where you wish to upload your contents. Become their registered member, which is in most cases very straightforward. Then read their terms and conditions. Most websites do not allow pornography or abusive contents to be uploaded.
Title:
Then you find their upload page and enter the title of your video. Make sure that title should be short, meaningful and graceful.
Description:
Then you may have to enter some description about the video. For example if it is a scenic video, you may wish to write the places shown in the video, season when it was made etc.
Tags:
Then, you may have to enter some keywords or tags. These are some individual words from your title, description or from the category of your video clip. For example if your video is about cooking you would like to enter: cooking, cuisine, food, sandwich, spices, fish, chicken, lamb, etc.
Main Category:
You may be asked to choose or click, one or more than one (if allowed) categories to which your video may belong to. For example if your video is about fashion, you would like to choose the nearest relevant given. It can be fashion, beauty, how to and style etc.
You are nearly there now. You are then asked to either upload for public or for private group. If it is your own video then you are supposed to click for the option stating "from your PC". If you are going to add some one's video from another website, you will need to click "from remote server".
If you choose the option "from your PC" then to browse your computer folders to select your video file and then ....UPLOAD.
You may have to wait depending on the size of video file or speed of your internet connection. It may range from 2-15 minutes. Remember that most of these sites have limit of the size of video file. It is usually up to 100MB.
After Uploading:
Wait patiently for other people's comments. It may be very exciting to receive a nice comment. Don't be disheartened on receiving a bad comment. It may help you to make a better video next time. Please do not post any abusive reply.
Advertising Options:
You may add your favourite clips into your "my favourite" folder. You may add these and feed the RSS (Really Simple Syndication) to your own or other web pages. You may add your website URL in the description of your video and get free links to your site to improve traffic. The possibilities are endless.
I request not to use spam keywords (tags) or URLs.
I hope that this article will be of some help. You are free to copy and distribute this without my permission, but please add my video website URL. I wish best of luck for your first video! You may try my website to upload your videos ---> http://www.clipyoutube.com/
