At five feet, ten inches tall and two hundred and five pounds, 36 year old mixed martial arts champion Kevin The Monster Randleman is definitely not the kind of guy you want yourself to get on the bad side of. American bred, born and raised, Kevin Randleman went to college at the Ohio State University, where he wrestled on their Division I NCAA team. Out of the four years he attended college, he was the Division I wrestling champion in his weight class for two of them.
After graduating from college, Kevin Randleman then began fighting professionally. In 1996 when he began his career, Kevin Randleman won the first five cage matches he had at Universal Vale Tudo Fighting 4, earning himself the nickname of The Monster.
Three years later, he began wrestling for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he won the majority of the matches he competed in. From 2002 to 2003, Kevin Randleman participated in PRIDE 22 through PRIDE 26, where he won three of the five competitions.
Despite all of the success that Kevin Randleman had in his career, he also suffered several personal and professional setbacks. Following a bout in 2006, Kevin Randleman failed a drug test that was given to him by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. A staunch and public opponent of the use of performance enhancing drugs, the failed test came as a shock to many of his fans. He later said that the reason he did not submit his own urine as a sample was because of his use of antibiotics and painkillers that were prescribed to him after surgery.
Less than a year later in early 2007, Kevin Randleman was hospitalized as a result of severe kidney damage. Meanwhile, the Nevada State Athletic Commission revoked his license to fight for more than a year. Kevin Randleman also had to battle a serious staph infection before returning to work.
As if the heath problems and troubles with the Nevada State Athletic Commission were not enough, on August 16 2007, Kevin Randleman was arrested in a suburb of Las Vegas. There were several charges that came out of the arrest, and one of which includes drunk driving.
Despite all of the troubles he had, Kevin Randleman was still able to recover. He is now back to professional fighting, and in May of 2008 he won his fight against Ryo Kawamura of Japan.
