The gluttony and covetousness are the most diabolical evils. The gluttons and overeaters use their stomachs as waist baskets. The food addicts live to eat rather than eat to live. The food alcoholism or food addiction is a disorder that leads to obesity. Obesity is a condition that proves that the Lord does not help those who help themselves and help themselves and just help themselves.
The obesity is worldwide problem. It causes major health disorders including insulin resistance, type 2 (adult-onset) diabetes, high blood pressure (hypertension), high cholesterol, stroke (cerebrovascular accident or cva), heart attack, congestive heart failure, cancer, gallstones, gout and gouty arthritis, osteoarthritis (degenerative arthritis), sleep apnea, and pickwickian syndrome (obesity, red face, underventilation, and drowsiness). It’s widely known fact about the obese or fat people that they are extremely lazy and do not do exercise regularly. A study led by Dr. Steven Blair at the Cooper Institute for Aerobics Research in Dallas, Texas, reports that 30% to 35% of Americans are overweight or obese and they do not do exercise regularly. The study also revealed that the people who exercise regularly are healthier and fitter than lean men who don't exercise. Approximately 300,000 deaths per year are directly related to obesity In the United States. It’s an irony that more die of too much food than of too little.
The International Obesity Task Force, a global coalition of obesity scientists and research centers advising the European Union, reported in March 2005, that Finland, Germany, Greece, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Malta have exceeded the United States figure of 67% for overweight or obese males.
Canada and Europe are just behind the United States in the trend towards overweight. The rates of obesity are growing fast in Egypt, China and Mexico.
