The Motorola Z6 ROKR is the latest addition to the music orientated ROKR series of Motorola. This is a very impressive high-end cell phone, geared towards a particular audience. For the die-hard music enthusiast who’s looking for a powerful music phone, however, the Motorola ROKR Z6 is a powerful cell phone that sports a host of features with the music fan in mind, as well as an appealing marketing deal with Napster.
Particularly targeted for music lovers, the Motorola ROKR Z6 is as much an MP3 player as it is a mobile phone. The ROKR Z6 is a Linux / Java cell phone that supports MP3 and Windows Media Audio formats (WMA). With integrated high-speed USB 2.0, the ROKR Z6 is tightly integrated with Windows Media Player, meaning that if WMP happens to be your default media player, you’re in luck. The ROKR Z6 will easily import songs and playlists to and from any computer running Windows Media Player 10 or 11, making it simple to sync the cell phone and load it up with music. The ROKR Z6 also features a revamped user interface and a dedicated music button to make taking command of your music collection quick and easy.
When it comes to any multimedia phone, storage and battery life are key. To this end, the ROKR Z6 supports up to 2 GB of storage on a microSD card (which means about 70 hours of music) and weighs in with an impressive ten-hour battery life — enough to enjoy music on the go for quite a while. Like any good music phone, the ROKR Z6 also features stereo Bluetooth technology, promising “tangle-free” music listening with a wireless Bluetooth headset (such as the ROKR Z6 S9).
ROKR Z6 and the Napster Experience
To give the ROKR Z6 even more appeal to music enthusiasts, Motorola is working with online music giant Napster to make it easy for consumers to download tracks to the ROKR Z6 from Napster’s considerable three-million song catalog. Like many of Motorola’s previous offerings , this Napster deal is primarily an appetizer: initially, the marketing campaign will offer one month of free unlimited access to Napster, through a subscription to Napster-to-Go, after which normal subscription fees will apply. The companies have also made rumblings about special bundled music package being made available in the coming months, but further details are still forthcoming.
Overall, the ROKR Z6 looks to be a perfect choice for the cell phone user who wants a lightweight, dedicated music phone.
