SCHOOL holidays kick off today, and there’s no need to have your kids moping around the house, complaining that they are bored.

If you’re keen to get them out of the mall and away from the TV, there is a range of outdoor adventures, educational activities and pure entertainment trips for all age groups on the go in our area. Why not check out the following:

l Jonginenge Kids Holiday Adventure Programmes starts on Monday at Nahoon Beach in East London, and it runs until July 11. They have a variety of cool things your child can do like canoe trails, coastal hikes, beach treasure hunts, abseiling, snorkelling, sandboarding and more.

The programme is for children between the ages of 7 and 16. It’s R100 per day or R500 per week (including a T-shirt). The meeting point is Nahoon Surf Lifesavers Club each morning at 8am. For more information, call 083 3502590 or 0837206914.

l The Dynamic Dance Academy is taking kids between the ages of 6 and 10 from July 7 to July 12 who want to learn a bit of ballet, Spanish dancing, hip-hop, drama, belly dancing, acting and arts and crafts. The programme will be run from a studio in Dorchester Heights from 9am-2pm and costs R700 (including a shirt, juice and fruit every day).

The little dramatists will not only get a certificate at the end of the programme, but will also perform at the Arts Theatre in Arcadia on July 12.

No dance experience is necessary, but numbers are limited. Phone 0437270058 for more info.

l The East London Zoo is having a special treat for school kids starting on Tuesday. For just R50 you get a snack and juice, and you get to experience a little of the wild side of life around creatures such as snakes and giraffes.
