The Zune Video Player, although not as popular as the iPod, it's definitely known of. Unforunately for Microsoft, it seems impossible to overcome the power of Apple's iPods to take the number one spot on the market. But number two isn't so bad, now is it? Microsoft has put out a quality MP3 Player, the Zune Video Player. Theres quite a few features on this baby compared to the iPod, which may make for a little more complicated experience.
Lets start with the name which is sort of odd, the "Zune", but it works. It's virtually the same price regarding almost all sizes. When it first came out, not very many people knew really what it was, the advertising and media for the Zune Video Player wasn't done well, which definitely took a part in what the Zune is today, 2nd place. That's a shame because even though the Zune could be a highly marketable product, due to it's uninformational advertisements giving no solid information on the Zune, no one paid attention because nothing stood out.
The colors that the Zune Video Player come in aren't very special. They come in black, brown, and white. This is another aspect that may not have appealed to the public so much, because who wants a brown mp3 player? But once you get inside the real product, you start to see what shines. The Zune can play up to 14 hours of music, and 5 hours of video. Compared to the iPod, the music is close to equal and it doubles the time while watching videos.
The Zune Video Player is very easy to use. Theres no manual because you don't need one. The quality of the sound is great, Another awesome feature is that you can get desktop marketplace and software, allowing you to access the marketplace through your desktop.
A few key features that are better than the iPod are that the Zune Video Player display is 3" compared to the iPod which is 2.5'. The Zune Video Player also holds up longer, it can take a few more drops than the iPod. A really unique option is being able to change your background to whatever photo you want. The last few are that the Zune has Wi-Fi, an FM Radio, and the Marketplace costs $15 per month compared to the iPod at .99 per song. Although the iTunes marketplace does have 1.5 million more songs than the Zune marketplace has, the fact that you have to pay $100 just to get 100 songs in comparison to $14.99 for as many songs as you want is huge. That's a lot of money saving there.
Overall, the Zune Video Player is an excellent product that has many qualities that surpass the iPod. But due to poor marketing, the Zune will never be as popular as the iPod.
